Well this last week started out with a “AAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhh get to Wyoming NOW!!” So we did! Tuesday we flew out of Medford into Casper, WY leaving at 5:30am. First day was as we expected. We got our rental car a jeep thing that looked like a box and drove out to the site for our meeting. We met with the caretaker of the property and signed paper work and took a tour. On the way back to our hotel we stopped at a dinosaur museum.
This was one the best museums I have ever been to. We were wet with an elderly woman at the door and she gave us a tour. Explaining about the specimens where they where found and other neat information. We came upon a skeleton of a plesiosaur that is a new species. Among other interesting facts this plesiosaur was a new species with a shorter neck. Then after this part of the tour we were taken into a back room where there where three other elderly women at work benches with air drills cleaning bones. Turns out this group of dedicated retired windows they clean bones by volunteering their time to clean the bones. They have been called the “Bone Biddies” by Dr. Bakker who I am told has stopped by the museum several times and also leads a dig out of Glenrock in the summer. So, if you are ever in Glenrock, WY please stop by the museum. While we where there we enjoyed it so much so we decided to support the museum and Brian bought a mug, a trilobite for me and I bought a replica of a tooth of the unnamed plesiosaur necklace.
The next day we continued with working and making phone calls. However the next day Brian got food poisoning. We ended out trip with a drive to Cheyenne to deliver and copy papers, and a very, very turbulent plain trip home. We are home safe and sound and feeling better. We may have to go to Montana soon but right now we are just looking for a new place in the area as the office is moving.
