time to catch up on geology/ science news and the news around me.

No Doubt has announced plans for a new tour and a new album! YES!!!!!!! Way cool and I am way excited!

Local news:
its cooling off finally. It snowed last night and should snow again tomorrow as well. Highs in the low 20's. I am just hoping we stay around 0 for a while. that would be nice.

Palin unveils energy goals for cities, villages
ANCHORAGE — Gov. Sarah Palin has crossed swords with conservation groups about petroleum drilling, but she earned nothing but praise Friday after announcing the most ambitious renewable energy goal in the nation.

At a news conference announcing her statewide energy plan, Palin called for 50 percent of Alaska’s power to be generated by renewable resources by 2025.


the national energy goal is 25% by 2025. there is alot of potential for renewable energy sources, Geothermal is currently being used at Chena Hot springs, they are off the grid and produce enough to have (and keep cool), an ice hotel year round.

I need to read this one closely, this has been debated for a while, I'm not sure this is the last of what we are going to hear about it.... non volcanic tremor was one of the sessions I went to at AGU and there was still some disagreement if I recall correctly.
